Well look what I’ve got….

Okay… no time for long winded stories this round. Today, I got a new Lenovo S10 netbook for us..

It came in a simple box…

and inside, are only two simple things:

The netbook itself, and the power adapter + cables. As you can see from the photo, the connections are limited but adequate for simple use:

There is no optical drive and there WILL NOT be an optical drive for a mini laptop. So don’t be a wanker and whine “Aiya… how to install program??”

The built quality is superb and it does not feel plasticky. The keyboard is very comfortable to type in but I still need some time to get used to the smaller cramped size. My only complain is the weird position of the right shift key which is usually on the LEFT of the UP arrow but this one they decided to place it on the RIGHT side of the UP arrow key instead. Kekekek…

The CPU is the latest Intelâ„¢ AtomBomb which most netbooks are coming with right now. The speed is 1.6GHz and it has only single core but has hyperthreading. So for simple ’surf net in Starbucks pretend to be cool’ experience, this is more than enough.

Other than that, the netbook comes with 3-cell battery which can last around 2.5-3hours of normal usage which includes net surfing, music listening and probably some video streaming in YouTube. Not bad actually for something so small and lightweight. It easily snaps into the back of the netbook.

The whole thing weighs about 1.2KG which is very very light compared to the monster company issued laptop I have. THIS is one laptop I wanna bring along during my holidays.

The systems powers up first to the manufacturer’s logo…

then towards the Windozz logo….

and straight to the desktop in less than 30 seconds. Very impressive. I hate waiting for the laptop to boot up. That’s the reason I chose to hibernate or put my company issued laptop to standby mode most of the time.

The 10 inch screen is LED backlit and very bright and beautiful. Contrast and colors are very nice too.

Overall, I really like the new laptop we got. I got it for RM1,630 which includes a silly ‘Disney Princess’ netbook pouch.

Ha ha ha ha…

Okay la…. bye bye

Ha. I wanted the black one last month but Home Minister say cannot. Thats why I got the Nokia 5800 instead, Ha ha ha ha ha. But soon, I might get another new old Notebook. Maybe. But I dem not happy because it does not have serial port which is crucial for my work.

    Experience?

Well.. it’s just like any normal laptop except that everything is smaller. So you might want to get used to the smaller size. But for traveling and the occasional “Starbucks Surfing” experience, it is NICE…

Wanna come along? SURE! Nice to meet new faces every now and then..
